On the road again

We are on the road again after four weeks in Castro Verde. Four weeks! And we call ourselves nomads!

We had an amazing drive to get to Mertola. We saw beautiful countryside, Iberian hare, egrets, lapwings, other lovely birds we can’t identify, both ends of a double rainbow and hundreds of storks.

What we didn’t see was a Great Bustard, the very thing we were looking for. The lady at the information centre gave us a map and pointed out a couple of roads we were ‘almost certain’ to see one from. Well, that was the kiss of death to our chances of actually seeing one. We are going to try another spot tomorrow, but don’t hold your breath.

Now that we have gone all hi-tech on the blog, we can post from the phones, as I am doing now. Great for regular updates when we don’t have wifi, but it does mean you will have to put up with some photos taken from the phone. Them’s the breaks.

Um… apparently you’re actually in NSW? This raises two pertinent issues: Dad will not be impressed, and you’re on the wrong side of the road.

    P.S. Happy birthday, dad.

  3. Luckily, while crossing La Manche, I was able to read this so have my birthday greetings from Perth. Thanks BLB. It does look like NSW doesn’t it? Being on the wrong side of the road will be better here I think. Sitting and driving on the left in UK is fraught.
