This is the aquaduct at Serpa. It’s amazing that bits of the Roman water-lift-chain-bucket thingy still exists. I don’t think they have been put back in the correct place but they look good for the tourists. Just back up the road a bit is a tiny bakery that makes superb coffee and wonderful pastries but not so good chocolate cake which looked better than it tasted. The baker lady educated us to the extent we now know that what’s known as a “long black” coffee in Oz is a “abatonado” in Portugal.
