Hello, hello, hello! I know, the promised posts about Bayeux & the Normandy beaches didn’t materialise did they? They still might (hopelessly out of sync) as one of them is part written, but who knows?
I know you are all dying to know what we’ve been up to over the last few weeks. Well, we survived the wettest June on record in the UK! We had our final few days in Hay-on-Wye with Aussie Dad & Jan before they headed back to Australia; spent lots of time with various branches of family; had a couple of landyachting trips; marvelled at all the bunting and Jubilee ‘limited edition’ products around (Marmite & Stone’s Green Ginger Wine to name just two); enjoyed watching Wimbledon, cricket & QI on the telly but realised that we didn’t miss it at all; changed phone provider yet again when Vodafone made a change to their plan which meant what had been costing us £10 a month would now cost us £90 a month – I don’t think so; and somehow fitted in crossing off the 80+ things we had on our to do list, from the trivial such as tax & insurance, to the important tasks like sorting out cupboards to make room for the five cookbooks I got for my birthday.
So what next? We are back at our favourite CL in Gloucestershire at the moment, en route from Abingdon to Dover in a roundabout sort of a way. We will be driving to Germany, getting the ferry to Sweden and then driving up Sweden & down Finland. Or we might get the ferry from Sweden to Finland and the drive up Finland and down Sweden. Or we might drive to Denmark and do the bridges to Sweden. We don’t really know. What we do know is that we are booked on the ferry to Calais on Sunday, which is a good start – the rest we’ll work out as we go.
We have had a complaint from Basil that we are doing too many ‘highlights’ posts, so we promise to try and do better, but sometimes life gets in the way and you’ll have to make do with a highlight or nothing at all!
So, season 2 of our travels begins – hope you enjoy it.
